Henk Guittart - Shönberg Quartet
Named after the French artist Gustave Doré, Doré Quartet is an international string quartet with young members from Italy and Spain born in 2021.
After meeting at Conservatorium Maastricht, in October 2022 the quartet is admitted to the prestigious Accademia Stauffer in Cremona under the guidance of Quartetto di Cremona. From 2023 the quartet is part of the Nederlandse StrijkKwartet Academie in Utrecht, having as a main professor the first violin of the Quatuor Danel, Marc Danel.
Doré Quartet has performed for important music festivals and cultural institutions in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Austria and Spain. Prominent among them are: Società del Quartetto di Milano (Milan, Italy), Società Filarmonica di Trento (Trento, Italy), MantovaMusica (Mantova, Italy), Bologna Festival (Bologna, Italy), Orlando Festival (Theater Kerkrade, The Netherlands), Musica Sacra Kunstenfestival (Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht, The Netherlands and Cultuurcentrum in Hasselt, Belgium) and Muziekgebouw Eindhoven (Eindhoven, The Netherlands). In March 2024, they bring to life their first self-produced show “Andaluces y Románticos”, under the artistic direction of Paloma Muriel in a series of concerts in Andalusia, Spain.
In August 2022 Doré Quartet participates with scholarship at the Orlando European Summer Course for Chamber Music, where they performed "Kleines Konzert" by K. A. Hartmann with percussionist Jennifer Heins.
The following year, the quartet receives a scholarship from the Willem Mengelberg Fonds of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, with which they participate at Zeister Muziekdagen, a summer festival in The Netherlands.
In May 2023, during the Musethica/ECMA Session in Grafenegg, Austria, they have the opportunity to work and perform as a quintet with Eckart Runge (Artemis Quartett). The following year, they are accepted to take part in Musethica's activities in the seasons 2024/25 and 2025/26.
In July 2024 they are invited to participate in the masterclasses and concerts of the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival in Lucca (Italy), performing in the closing concert the Chausson Concerto for Violin, Piano, and String Quartet with international soloists Anna Agafia Egholm and Anthony Ratinov.
The quartet participates in masterclasses held by Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartett), Pierre Colombet (Quatuor Ébène), Heime Müller (Artemis Quartett), Ettore Causa (Yale School of Music), Miguel Da Silva (Ysaÿe Quartet), Pavel Nikl (Pavel Haas Quartet), Johannes Meissl, Kim Kashkashian, Bruno Giuranna, Alfred Brendel, Adrian Brendel, Alain Meunier, Gilles Millet (Quatuor Danel), Shunske Sato (artistic director of the Netherlands Bach Society), Henk Guittart (Shönberg Quartet), Alexander Pavlovsky, members of the Jerusalem Quartet, Schumann Quartett, Ida Bieler (Melos Quartet), among others.
They have been awarded in prestigious international competitions such as the 3rd Swiss International Music Competition, the 14th International Music Competition “Luigi Cerritelli” and the Virtuoso & Belcanto Chamber Music Competition 2024. They were also finalists in the 2024 AMUR competition. After completing the “Corso Marco Allegri” in Faenza, the quartet excelled in the II Edition of the “Filippo Nicosia” Chamber Music Award, where the jury awarded violist José Manuel a fine viola crafted by renowned luthier Giorgio Grisales.
In 2024, as a result of the collaboration between Fondazione Pro Canale and the Accademia Stauffer, Doré Quartet receives four historical instruments provided by Fondazione Pro Canale on loan.
Doré Quartet has been selected to join "Le Dimore del Quartetto" network.
