Caterina Vannoni

Cello

Born in Rimini in a family of musicians, Caterina started playing the cello at the age of seven.

She began her studies with Claudio Casadei and obtained her diploma at Conservatorio G. Rossini in Pesaro in 2018; then she continued her musical education at Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan where she obtained a Master’s degree with full marks in the class of Christian Bellisario in 2020; in 2023 she graduated with a Master of Music in Cello at Conservatorium Maastricht in the class of Gustav Rivinius.

During her musical education, she attended masterclasses with Natalia Gutman, Marianne Chen, Enrico Dindo, Patrizio Serino, Alberto Casadei.


She also attended the annual courses at the Pavia Cello Academy with Jacopo Di Tonno and Andrea Agostinelli; Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo with Marianne Chen; Fondazione Musicale di Santa Cecilia di Portogruaro with Damiano Scarpa.


During her career, she has won first prize in both national and international competitions, among them Concorso Internazionale “Orchestra Sinfonica dei Giovani Musicisti Europei”, “Riviera dei Fiori” di Sanremo, “Luigi Zanuccoli” di Sogliano, “Città di Sinalunga”, “Città di Camerino”, “Giovani Musicisti dell’Aquila”; second prize at “Làszlò Spezzaferri International Music Competition”.

Currently, she is working as a guest player with several orchestras, including Orchestra Sinfonica and Filarmonica Rossini, performing for a tounée in Japan and at the Rossini Opera Festival; Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano; La Toscanini of Parma; Orchestra dell’Accademia Teatro alla Scala; Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza; Orchestra UniMi; Orchestra 1813; Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée, performing for a tournée in France; Orchestra Sinfonica dei Giovani Musicisti Europei (WYO), performing in Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia. 

In 2021 she passed the audition for the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (NJO) and for the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester.

Caterina plays a Celeste Farotti cello from 1906, thanks to the kind concession of the Fondazione Pro Canale of Milan.
